I love using the mini player, but how do I keep it open while using the AI DJ?
Every time he talks, he hides the mini player and won't reopen it. I click it to open it again, then he hides it again next time he speaks. I even tried opening the mini player while the DJ was talking, and it immediately closed.
How do I fix this?
When I'm using DJ and the mini-player on my MacBook, the mini-player disappears while the DJ is speaking. At first, I thought that was okay. I thought the mini-player would pop back up after the DJ chose the next song. It did not. This has become annoying because I prefer to see the player window to see titles and the plus button while I'm working. I have to stop what I'm doing, open the full app, and then trigger the mini-player again. Please fix this in future versions.
Hey there @im_england,
Thanks for posting this thread in the Community!
We checked, but couldn't find other reports of the behavior you've described with DJ and the Miniplayer, so it's worth performing some troubleshooting.
Does resizing the Miniplayer change anything?
If you've not already done this, I recommend giving Spotify a clean reinstall with the steps here. It's more detailed than a regular one and also includes clearing the cache, which can cause performance issues when it's corrupted. The reinstall also ensures that you're using the newest app version.
Something else that comes to mind is to test if the same behavior persists when you're using the Web Player.
Keep us posted 🙂
I can confirm this also happens to me. The mini-player just can't be present while the DJ is talking. It'll stay if you pop it out while the songs are playing but it gets closed automatically once the DJ comes back. It looks like a simple oversight in the software more than a bug that can be fixed by a re-install in my opinion.
Thanks for joining the thread, @Hermaeus!
Does the issue occur only when clicking the DJ icon in the Now Playing Bar or also when skipping songs? Have you tried skipping from another place to see if that makes a difference? For example, if you're using the controls from the Miniplayer, try the ones from the app instead. Also, have you tried enabling/disabling "Hardware acceleration" in the app's Settings > Compatibility to see if that helps?
If the issue persists, please share a short screen recording which captures the described behavior in action, along with the exact version of Spotify you're running so we can have a direct look at what's happening on your end.

⬆️ Could you confirm this as well? 🙏
Cheers 🤘
Skipping songs from anywhere makes no difference, mini-player on web player or app both exhibit the same behavior. the mini-player will close itself without fail whenever the DJ speaks. I have also toggled hardware acceleration to rule it out at the very least but as I suspected, it fixed nothing. As for a "short screen recording", despite my best efforts at making a short video while still showcasing the issue, I am unable to produce a video that fits within this community blog's measly 5MB attachment limit 😅. But as I mentioned before, this is too consistent for it to be something that can be fixed by basic troubleshooting.

Thanks for the reply, @Hermaeus!
I'm unable to reproduce this on my end. Do you folks have a secondary monitor in your setup? If so, have you tried disconnecting it temporarily to see if the issue would still occur?
@Hermaeus, since the file is too large to be attached here in your reply, could you instead upload it to a cloud service like Google Drive and share the URL? Just make sure the file is available to anyone with the link.
@im_england, if you could also confirm your Spotify version that'd be great 👍
We'll be on the lookout for your replies.
I am using two monitors.
I unplugged one and got the same result; the DJ closes the mini player.

Here is a screen recording of it happening. The audio wasn't recorded, but you can still see the DJx close the mini player, then I reopen it, and so forth.
Hey there @im_england,
Thanks for getting back to us.
We're afraid we couldn't open the screen recording because of security reasons. Would you mind giving it another try? You can attach it to your next response by using the Insert Video option in the post editor. You can also upload it to Google Drive and share the link with us (make sure the video has the permissions for anyone to see it).
We'll be on the lookout for your reply.
