Do I need a second account to use my Duo Subscription?

Do I need a second account to use my Duo Subscription?

I purchased the Duo subscription because when my wife is in the car listening to Spotify, I want to also be able to listen at home.

All the play lists are on my account and the car is logged in with my account.  Can my account be used at home at the same time, or do I need to have her establish a second account and create her own play lists?

Hi @SteveDenver, thanks for reaching out!

With Spotify Duo, each person needs their own separate account to listen at the same time. Since your car and home would both be using your account, they would conflict, stopping playback on one device when the other starts.

To fix this, I'd suggest your wife to create her own Spotify account and join your Duo plan. That way, she can log into the car with her account while you listen at home on yours.

Since all the playlists are currently on your account, you can make your playlists public and send her the links so she can follow them.

Also, you can use the Blend feature, which auto-updates based on both your music tastes.

Hi i have 2 different devices being used for the premium duo.  Unfortunately, since the devices both have the same login info, the music needs to be the same on both devices.  For example if i am listening to Kenny Chesney on my device and my partner then logins in to spotify and starts listening to lady gaga on her device, then I end up having to listen to Lady Gaga.  Looking for some help please.  thx

Hi @wavekatcher11954, thanks for reaching out.

In this case, you should log in one of the devices using the other Duo account credentials, so you can both listen to music at the same time, separately.
